Sideloader forklifts are the ideal solution for steering large and heavy items. They are horizontally designed to allow the driver to safely lift, load and transport stock. Whereas more traditional forklifts such as counter balanced units lift from the front, sideloaders allow the operator to load on the side allowing more space to carry bigger material such as wooden pallets, long pipes, metal beams and more.
The drivers car is always positioned at the front of the sideloader forklift to provide the operator with a full view of the courtyard and the materials that are being moved. It provides sufficient vision and ensures that the operator can fully see the bed / platform, keeping items save and secure.
Sideloading Forklifts
Sideloader forklifts are the preferred unit type for timber yards. They are also popular in any environment where steel, plastics and concrete need manoeuvring. Thanks to the safe and spacious platform, sideloader forklifts can move items over longer distances compared to forward facing forklifts. They also ensure that the cargo is less likely to get damaged or dropped.
As sideloading forklifts are mainly used outside they are often fuelled with diesel. This also gives them the power required to efficiently move heavy items without the difficulties faced with limited power. Sideloading units typically have a lift capacity of around 5000-6000kg and a lift height ranging from 4500-5500mm. The mast height also makes them the ideal option to load large, long items onto curtained trailers.
