3-Wheel Forklift Rental

A 3-wheel forklift is the key to manoeuvrability. With a 90-degree pivoting radius (rotating within its own footprint), these machines are ideal for high-density, narrow-aisle warehouses. They require far less swing room to complete a turn than a 4-wheel model, and can increase your storage capacity by up to 15%. If this sounds beneficial to your warehouse, try before you buy with a 3-wheel forklift rental from Trucks Direct UK.

Trucks Direct UK supplies 3-wheel forklift rentals to businesses across the UK. We offer some of the most competitive rates available and deliver your forklift anywhere in the UK mainland.

We conduct Thorough Examinations of all of our forklifts to provide you with a current LOLER certification. We do this for your peace of mind and complete satisfaction with your 3-wheel forklift rental. We also include hired-in plant insurance, regular maintenance appointments and breakdown cover in our costs. And if something goes wrong, we assure a like-for-like replacement within days. It is our strong relationships with our finance partners and manufacturers that enable us to keep our costs low while providing a comprehensive service.

Through the contact form above, you can enquire about our 3-wheel forklift rental services and tell us your ideal specifications. Including:

  • The lifting capacity you need.
  • Your ideal payment plan.
  • Your intended weekly use of the 3-wheel forklift.

We will review your requirements, match you to the most suitable forklift for your needs, and provide a complete quote. Rest assured, you will never encounter any unexpected costs when hiring from Trucks Direct UK. Pricing transparency is as important to us as it is to you. FAQS

  • Are 3-Wheel Forklifts Stable?

3-Wheel forklifts are stable on smooth, level surfaces. Their steadiness depends on the Stability Triangle, which prevents the forklift from tipping. If a 3-wheel forklift encounters uneven surfaces, steep ramps or obstacles, they are susceptible to tipping. They have comparatively lower lifting capacities than 4-wheel forklifts and use with active stability systems that manage their centre of gravity.

  • Can a 3-Wheel Forklift be Used Outdoors?

Generally, 3-wheel forklifts perform better and stay more stable indoors than outdoors. Only on paved and relatively flat surfaces can you use a 3-wheel forklift outside. Examples of suitable areas for 3-wheel forklift use are asphalt loading yards. However, aside from stability, 3-wheel forklifts are not equipped for weather, unlike a (better-suited) rough-terrain forklift. As such, they may require additional protection measures against heavy water and dust. They also need tyres suitable for outdoor use, such as pneumatic or solid soft tyres.

  • What are the Differences Between 3-Wheel and 4-Wheel Forklifts?

3-wheel forklifts are highly manoeuvrable and ideal for narrow-aisle and smooth-surface use. Conversely, 4-wheel forklifts have high load capacities and better performance in outdoor environments. 3-wheel forklifts have a small turning circle, which grants them agility but necessitates a lower lifting capacity. 4-wheel forklifts have a much larger turning radius, requiring wider aisles, but they can handle uneven terrain.

If you are maximising space in a high-density warehouse, a 3-wheel forklift would suit your needs. However, if you need a forklift for indoor and outdoor use, 4-wheel forklifts are best.

  • Do You Need a Specific Licence to Operate a 3-Wheel Forklift?

You do not need a specific licence to operate a 3-wheel forklift, but you need specific training. Your training will result in a certificate of competency, which, essentially, acts as your licence. There is no such thing as a forklift licence in the UK, only various levels of accredited, vehicle-specific training. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, you must have an accreditation that verifies your ability to operate a specific type of truck.

Although the functionality of 4-wheel and 3-wheel forklifts is very similar, you may need to take a conversion course to drive a 3-wheeler.
